Crank Only, Full Assembly or Zero Balance?
- Crankshaft only checks and corrects the crank by itself, common on stock rebuilds and many internally balanced engines.
- Full rotating assembly balances the crank to your specific rods, pistons, pins, rings and bearings. This is the right choice for most performance builds.
- Zero balance brings the assembly as close to perfect as practical for high RPM and racing engines.

Crankshaft Balancing Questions
How much does crankshaft balancing cost?
Crankshaft only balancing is $220, full rotating assembly balancing is $420 and zero balancing is $450. Honda GX small engines are $150. Flywheel and damper are $30 extra, and tungsten slugs are $90 each when weight must be added.
Do I need to balance my crankshaft when I rebuild my engine?
It is strongly recommended any time you change pistons or rods, build for performance or higher RPM, or want the smoothest, longest lasting engine.
What parts do I need to send for rotating assembly balancing?
Typically the crankshaft with the rods, pistons, pins, rings and bearings, plus the flywheel or flexplate and damper on externally balanced engines. Call first and we will confirm exactly what to send for your engine.
